“A lady is… one who never intentionally shows her underwear.” Live Wire Dance Company (Minneapolis), directed by Carrie Lande Homuth, presents an evening of rhythmically electrified movement. “A Lady Is…” is a glimpse into society’s perceptions of women as seen through fashion and the roles that women played in the workforce during the 1920s-1940s. These two themes helped propel the liberation of women into the modern age. Homuth creates an atmospheric affair accompanied by nostalgic costumes, pops, music and movement reminiscent to each era, telling women’s experiences through fashion and choreography.
